April 23, 2020

Applications for support under JPS’ COVID-19 Relief Programme for elderly and disabled customers, will close at 12 midnight tomorrow, Friday April 24. The Company’s J$10M COVID-19 Relief Programme, which was announced at the end of February during JPS’ Digital Town Hall meeting, offered bill-payment relief as well as care packages to our customers in these vulnerable groups.

Under the COVID-19 Relief Programme, successful applicants will benefit as follows:

–          No Disconnections for April and May

–          Bill Payment Assistance in the form of a one-time credit of up to $5,000 on their bills

In addition to the immense popularity of the programme, there were also misleading messages advising persons of a rebate on bills for the months of April and May.  As stated before, successful applicants will benefit from No Disconnections for April and May; and Bill Payment Assistance as a one-time credit of up to $5,000 on their bills.

JPS’ COVID-19 Response also includes support at the national level. In a significant give-back, the JPS Shareholders – EWP Korea is donating test kits to the tune of J$35Million to the health sector to help fight against COVID19.  JPS has also committed J$1M to assist health care workers in the South East Regional Health area, with transportation to and from four major hospitals. This is being done in partnership with JUTA Tours.

In the meantime, JPS continues to facilitate customers who are experiencing challenges, with flexible payment arrangements. JPS remains committed to doing its part in helping Jamaicans during this national crisis, while remaining focused on providing consistent and reliable power at this time. The Company also reminds everyone to stay safe and adhere to the guidelines for good health in this challenging season.
