EEI and Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation Announce Strategic Partnership

The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) and the Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC) have signed a strategic partnership agreement that establishes a mutually beneficial collaboration between the CARILEC Secretariat, CARILEC members, and EEI.

As part of the agreement, EEI and CARILEC have agreed to pursue joint areas of collaboration that include joint knowledge-sharing activities such as webinars, workshops, and events.

“We are thrilled to form this partnership with CARILEC,” said EEI Vice President for International Programs Dr. Lawrence Jones. “Together, EEI and CARILEC can provide Caribbean electric companies with a platform for dialogue on issues that range from storm preparedness and response, to the adoption of electric vehicles and building a global sustainable power system of the future.”

"The renewal of this strategic partnership with Edison Electric Institute is consistent with CARILEC's strategic plan for the period 2018-2022, which speaks to a new mission, a new vision and a realignment of our values, of which ‘collaboration’ is pivotal,” said Executive Director of CARILEC Dr. Cletus Bertin. “CARILEC facilitates the adoption of best practice in energy solutions in the region, and partnering with EEI will put us in good stead in that vein.”

EEI and CARILEC hosted their first joint CEO workshop on strategies to accelerate investment in clean energy and smarter energy infrastructure on September 24 during the CAREC Renewable Energy and Smart Grid Conference in Miami.
