A second explosive eruption has been recorded at the La Soufriere volcano in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

It occurred just before 3 pm.

The vertical ash column is estimated to have gone approximately four kilometres into the atmosphere.

NEMO SVG says it is smaller than the first which occurred earlier this morning.

However, Vincentians on social media have reported that the ash column is now visible from Kingstown.

The first explosive eruption was recorded around 8:40 am on April 9.
