As part of its COVID-19 Relief Programme, JPS has delivered on its promise to provide bill payment support and care packages to the tune of $10M for elderly and disabled customers who applied for this benefit. Scores of elderly, disabled and otherwise needy customers have also received care packages under the JPS COVID-19 Relief Programme .

This is the latest in a series of commitments fulfilled by JPS, to support its customers and the Government in dealing with the impact of the corona virus pandemic.

The Company also recently delivered on a $35M donation of COVID-19 Diagnostic Machines and 7,500 Testing Kits, made by Shareholder, Korea EWP. This gift will improve the UHWI’s testing capacity from 200 per day to 986 per day – an almost 400% increase in capacity.

JPS is also partnering with the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) and JUTA to provide transportation for health care workers.

“We recognize that COVID-19 has presented Jamaica with an economic challenge as well as a health challenge. So while we support the national effort to accelerate testing in order to contain the spread of the virus, we are taking steps to assist our customers,” said JPS President & CEO, Emanuel DaRosa. “In addition to supporting the elderly and disabled, we are working with other customers who are having challenges paying their bills. We have been offering flexible payment terms to persons who have lost income, allowing them extra time to pay their bills. We are all in this together. Customers who need assistance should contact us, so we can work with them during this challenging time.” The JPS CEO indicated.
