FortisTCI Announces Measures to Support Customers in Light of Coronavirus Pandemic

 

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands (Friday, March 27, 2020) – FortisTCI has announced that the company will be implementing measures to assist customers in alleviating hardships that may be experienced as a result of the current coronavirus pandemic.

Effective immediately, the company will:

  • Delay the 6.8% rate increase for 90 days
  • Suspend disconnections for 30 days
  • Suspend late fee charges for 60 days
  • Assist those most impacted with extended payment plans, on a case-by-case basis
  • Assist qualifying customers referred by the Department of Social Development

In announcing these new measures, FortisTCI President & CEO Eddinton Powell said, “These initiatives will assist our customers in these unprecedented and uncertain times. We are all in this together and FortisTCI is a long-term strategic partner to people of the Turks and Caicos Islands. These measures will help our customers as they focus on the growing pandemic and economic threats in the weeks ahead. Our parent company, Fortis Inc., was instrumental in helping to achieve this outcome.”

He added, “Electricity is an absolutely essential service. Our most urgent and primary responsibility to the nation presently is to keep the lights on.”

The company is encouraging customers to practice energy conservation at home as much as possible at this time. Conserving energy will go a long way in helping customers manage their electricity costs.
