Course Summary:

The scope of this training course is designed to help those employees who work with underground cable, splicing, and terminating. This 2-hour class training explains cable layers, stresses, underground splices and terminations.

Competent Person Underground (17th July, 2020) – Cost: US$175.00

Course Duration: 2 Hours

 

Course Summary:

This is a review of the OSHA standards for trench and excavation safety and the technical knowledge requirements to be an excavation ‘Competent Person’ in accordance with the

OSHA requirements. The Competent Person is the job-site person assigned by the employer who is in charge of trench and or excavation safety. The Competent Person has demonstrated particular knowledge and skills that are delivered in this training. A practical demonstration of skills is required by the employer or the employers designated person for the participant in this webinar to be properly designated a Competent Person. An Employers Skills Assessment guide is provided to participants.

Intersect Method of Hazard Analysis (Postponed to 11th September, 2020) – Cost: US$100.00

Course Summary:

This webinar introduces the participant to highly effect

live work-site hazard analysis using an ISPC original and proven model for Hazard Analysis known as ‘The Intersect’. The Intersect model is a simple to remember three-part process that can be employed in any workplace. The Intersect 3-part model is easily delivered to the workforce as an effective method of tailboard assessment of the real hazards that typically are overlooked. The webinar includes a more detailed look at effective hazard assessment for Safety personnel to give them additional effective skills in performing worksite assessments.

URD Equipment Safety and Awareness ( postponed to 18th September, 2020) – Cost: US$175.00

Course Summary:

The scope of this training course is designed for those who work on or near underground facilities. Instruction includes OSHA regulations. This two-hour course includes electric theory, safety URD systems and components with minimum approach distances with practical application of the principles in the field.

Grounding Part 1 & 2 (postponed to 22nd  & 23rd October, 2020) –  Cost: US$600.00

Course Duration: 2 sessions @ 3 Hours

 

Course Summary:

This six-hour webinar (in two sessions, three hours each) will provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to create an effectively bonded equipotential zone for any workplace. The webinar also covers scenarios where PPG is more difficult to achieve and presents the alternative to provide the best protection available for employees. The first part of the webinar focuses on the principles of current flow in grounded systems giving the participant the technical knowledge to make effective assessments of hazards and remediation of exposures from both inadvertent re-energizing and induction risks. The second session reviews case histories and techniques. The webinar addresses T&D and mobile equipment exposures.

Telecom Worker Electrical Awareness Part 1 & 2 (postponed to 9th & 16th October, 2020)* – Cost: US$350.00

Course Duration: 2 Sessions @ 2 Hours

 

Course Summary:

The scope of this four-hour training course (over two sessions) is designed for those who work on or near electrical hazards, both underground and on the pole. Topics to be discussed over both two-hour sessions include electrical safety awareness, overhead distribution system recognition, pole climbing rescue, bucket truck rescue, minimum approach distances and grounding principles, as well as arc flash hazard awareness, the NESC Part 4 work rules, and electrical cover gear.

Senior Consultant: Tony Byod, CUSP

Tony Boyd’s career spans over 40 years in the Electric Utility Industry. Tony has specialized in the technical side of the business with extensive experience in Transmission, Overhead Distribution and Underground Distribution systems. Tony’s experience includes the safety and training side of the electric utility business focusing on best practices in the industry and concentrating on promoting safety in every aspect of the work. Tony also develops and delivers ISPC training as well as dedicated client specific training programs.

  

Senior Consultant: Jim Vaughn, CUSP

As Senior Consultant for ISPC Jim serves utilities as a safety specialist in utility industry related OSHA and consensus standards. Jim provides both consult and program development for utilities in OSHA compliant policies and procedures as well as consult on incident investigation and incident related litigation. Jim also develops and delivers ISPC training as well as dedicated client-specific training programs.
