Regular Courses
This year the Secretariat plans to conduct a total of fifty-two (52) regular and high value-added courses. Six (6) of these target management personnel, eighteen (18) are aimed at administrative level employees, one (1) cater for engineering staff and twenty-seven (27) are technician courses.

At that targeted level of programme delivery we expect to achieve an overall attendance level of no fewer than six hundred and fifty (650) participants. Every effort will be made to improve on programme coordination and delivery. Member utility feedback on the impact of training will be encouraged and actively sought.

Commercial Courses
The Secretariat will be re-introducing a commercial training programme to create awareness and meet the skill needs of key stakeholders in the electricity industry. Among personnel likely to be targeted are Government Electrical Inspectors, Electrical Contractors, Wiremen and Consumers.

Accreditation Programmes
Last year, the British National Examination Board for Supervision and Management (referred to as NEBS Management), conferred accreditation status on CARILEC as an approve Centre to conduct a number of its supervisory, management and team leadership training programmes.

NEBS Management is a leading provider of programmes awards in the United Kingdom. It is part of the City & Guilds Group and is governed by a Board comprising representatives from a wide spectrum of activities including industry, commerce, education and the armed forces.

CARILEC will be conducting three out of five accredited certification programmes this year. We will be drawing on the resources of the UWI/IOB which has been approved by NEBS to facilitate the training. No doubt, those internationally recognized programmes will provide a much needed boost to CARILEC’s Supervisory, Management and skills development training.

Certification Programmes
The Secretariat will pursue the following long term training arrangements involving formal certification:

a) Certificate in Geographic & Land Information Systems (GIS)
b) Linesman Certification
