What is the CARILEC Email Broadcast Service?

The service is an email-based online collaboration tool for CARILEC members. In the first phase, it will allow members to post questions about technical issues and problems, for other members to respond to.

In order for this service to have the greatest possible impact (and bearing in mind that the majority of internet users mostly use email) we have designed it to be completely user-friendly and intuitive. Our intention is to start out with a very simple, but effective system, which will be scaled to become more powerful as our needs and capabilities grow.

Why are we launching this service?

When CARILEC was formed over a decade ago, one of its objectives was to foster collaboration between our members at a professional level. For example, our annual conferences have contributed to this by providing professional forums enabling members to network, discuss ideas and find solutions to common problems.

Over the past few years we have been developing various computer and internet-based assets for members, in an effort to make use of the information technology revolution to further the above objective. We expect that this service will allow us to advance this effort.

How does the service work?

• The service is available to members only
  
  
• You must register to use the service. This allows you to choose a username and password
  
  
• You can sign up to receive questions in one or more areas of interest.
  
  
• Any user can post a question. Whenever a question is posted in your area(s), it will be emailed to you (and all the other persons signed up in the particular area) for your input.
  
  
• You can then reply directly to the person who asked the question.
