DOMLEC CHOOSES ADVANCED UTILITY SYSTEMS TO IMPLEMENT NEW CUSTOMER INFORMATION SYSTEM

Toronto, Canada:
Advanced Utility Systems is pleased to announce that Dominica Electricity Services Limited (Domlec), the electric utility serving the 76,000 residents of the Commonwealth of Dominica, has chosen CIS Infinity to handle their customer management and utility billing needs. They provide a full range of electrical services to these customers including Generation, Transmission and Distribution services.

Dominica is an Island known as the Nature Island, located within a cluster of Caribbean islands identified as the Windward Islands. It is extremely mountainous, with numerous peaks over 4,500 feet in elevation, and tropical rainforest covering large portions of the Island. Over 365 rivers exist, acting as the source for hydroelectric generation, which represents approximately 40% of their power generation requirements.

CIS Infinity will be used to provide electric billing services, with implementation to begin immediately and be completed before year-end. The software will be used to handle billing, customer relationship management, and several support activities including inventories and service work.

Bob Watson, Chief Commercial Officer for Domlec, is excited about the selection of Advanced Utility Systems Corporation. “ CIS Infinity is an ideal product for us. The ease-of-use it provides and the flexibility it offers in software set-up, will allow us to configure the product for our market. While utilities the world over have many similarities, Dominica has several unique criteria, such as the use of fuel surcharges, that CIS Infinity is able to handle”

Dominica Electricity Services will use all of the functions of CIS Infinity. Billing, Customer Contact, Inventory, and Service Order functions will be used to enable Domlec staff to significantly improve customer service. CIS Infinity supports both Oracle and SQL Server. In the case of Domlec, the application will run on an NT Server using Microsoft SQL Server. As tourism is a critical part of the economy, special rates are in place for the hotel sector. These rates, combined with Ad Hoc reports generated by CIS Infinity, will allow Domlec to track and report on the growth in that sector.

Domlec is Advanced Utility Systems first Caribbean client. According to Patricia Sorbara, the President of Advanced Utility Systems, this has everyone at the company anxiously looking forward to starting the set-up. “Word of the full functionality of CIS Infinity is spreading. Not only in North America, but also to customers such as Domlec. Our development team look forward to the implementation, while our support team can smoothly and easily amalgamate them into our existing client base. It is our hope that we can use this foothold in the Caribbean, and the unique functions established in the software to launch new initiatives in the region. ”

Advanced Utility Systems Corporation is privately owned and operated software and services Company headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The company has grown from its 1997 start-up to serve over 40 North American water, electric and natural gas utility clients with its billing and customer service software CIS Infinity.
