CURAÇAO RESTRUCTURES UTILITY HOLDINGS
Integrated Utility Holding (IUH), the holding company and manager of KAE and KODELA, the production and distribution utilities
in Curaçao, has announced a reorganization of its holdings under a new corporate identity called Aqualectra. From now on KAE will be known as
Aqualectra Production, KODELA as Aqualectra Distribution and IUH as Aqualectra. The companies will be represented by a single logo and brand image.
IUH was created in 1997 following a decision by the Curaçao Island Executive Council to restructure the power and water supply sector of Curaçao. In a January press release, IUH notes
that their aim in the creation of the new organisation is to "enhance the reliability of the water and power supply to our community, to control
the cost involved and the optimize service to the community." This they believe would require "an organization in which the production company
and the distribution company form a unit, being optimally geared to each other, co-operating efficiently and projecting the image of one company on the domestic
and foreign markets."
Dr. Ing. Steven Martina, President Director of Aqualectra notes that his company has been working very hard to become an organisation which will "operate more efficiently and in which we
will put much energy into the optimization of our products and services." "To us", he notes, "the change of names does not mean just a superficial modification of names. The new name represents the fact that
we face the future with joined forces and full of confidence."
