The CARILEC secretariat today launched its
2001 web site -- the fourth version of the site since the original site was
launched in 1997. The 2001 site is designed
to extend the already important influence of the web further into CARILEC's
membership and customer base.
One of the new and important aspects of the
site will be its e-commerce storefront, which will be implemented later this
year. This will allow users to pay online for conference registrations, membership
dues and other services.
The site is designed to give more prominence
to news from members and associates. For example, new associate members will
now automatically be featured in a 'Member Profile' on the home page. The
site design incorporates new ideas and features which will improve navigation
and user satisfaction.
Plans for the further development of CARILEC's
web assets include the development of web-enabled databases, a knowledge intranet
and a pilot program for the delivery of training on the web.
The CARILEC site has been developed entirely
in-house by the Joint Services department since 1997.
