Carilec appoints new executive director

The Board of Directors of the Caribbean Association of Electric Utilities
(CARILEC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Victor Poyotte to the post of Executive Director.
Mr. Poyotte, a St. Lucian national has a long history of service in the public and private sectors
and most recently served as Cabinet Secretary and Permanent Secretary in
the Office of the Prime Minister with the Government of St. Lucia.
He has served over twenty-five (25) years in public administration in the St. Lucia Public Service and seven (7) years in
regional project management with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). |
Mr. Poyotte is no stranger to CARILEC. He served as the
Regional Training Coordinator for a period of 3 years from June 1990.
In his new position as Executive Director, he will be looked upon to
steer the organisation through a new strategic phase.
Much emphasis will be placed on raising the profile of CARILEC on the
regional and international levels.
In his private role as Management Consultant/Trainer, Mr. Poyotte has worked on a
number of high-level projects including St. Lucia Local Government Reform, the Caribbean Development Bank Operations Audit and the Caribbean Overseas
Territories Government Accounting Reform. He has also done training for a number of reputable institutions and electric utilities including
Grenada Electricity Services and St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited.
CARILEC stands to gain from Mr. Poyotte’s expertise and years of experience in all aspects of management.
As the Caribbean starts to embrace the realities of globalisation, free trade, and liberalized markets, it is imperative that our people are equipped
with the skills, training and mental aptitude to ensure survival in this new arena.
Mr. Poyotte assumed his position at the organisation’s Secretariat located in
Bois d’Orange, quarter of Gros Islet, on Monday 20th January 2003. He has since met with the Secretariat’s small team of employees and is eagerly looking forward to
meeting and working with personnel from the organization’s membership made up of thirty (30) electric utilities and thirty-eight (38) associate member
companies (providing goods and services to the electric utilities).
