CARILEC announces the launch of its newest
internet-based collaboration tool for members: the CARILEC Email Broadcast
Service
The service is an email-based
online collaboration tool for CARILEC members. In the first phase, it
will allow members to post questions about technical issues and problems
for other members to respond to, primarily using their regular email.

When CARILEC was formed over a decade ago,
one of its primary objectives was to foster collaboration between members
at a professional level. For example, the annual CARILEC conferences have
contributed to this by providing professional forums enabling members to network,
discuss ideas and find solutions to common problems.
Over the past few years CARILEC has been developing
various computer and internet-based networking assets for members, in an effort
to make use of the information technology revolution to further the above
objective. It is expected that the new service will help to advance this effort.
In order to increase the adoption of this service
by members, and bearing in mind that the majority of internet users mostly
use email, the service has been designed around email as the user platform.
As user needs and capabilities develop, the service will eventually be incorporated
into a CARILEC knowledge intranet.
The service is free, and is available only
to full and associate members. Users must register and be approved for access
prior to use.
