LUCELEC Hosts Town Hall Meeting to Discuss 3 Megawatt Solar Farm
At 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2017, the St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) held a Town Hall meeting with the residents of Vieux Fort. The meeting was held at the National Skills Development Centre, located at Hewanorra Orchard on the St. Jude’s Highway and discussions were focused on the proposed 3 megawatt (MW) solar farm being developed by LUCELEC in La Tourney, Vieux-Fort prior to the commencement of works.
The 3 megawatt solar farm is St. Lucia’s largest renewable energy project to date, thus the meeting gave residents an opportunity to learn more about the project and its potential impact on the community. The meeting also provided residents with a platform to engage representatives from LUCELEC, the Ministry with responsibility for Public Utilities and Energy, the Ministry with responsibility for Sustainable Development, and other technical experts associated with the project.
