The subject of metering and its relation to other

We have chosen this
theme because it is felt
that recent experiences
of many members electric
utility suggest the need
to improve their image
by paying more attention
to and make better use
of customer information.
4.1.2 Energy
Policy
This conference will
seek to evaluate the
existing policies and
legal instruments
governing the operations
of the electric
utilities. It will
examine issues relating
to renewable energy
sources, environmental
management, investment
and financing of energy
projects and the role of
Independent Power
Providers in promoting
use of alternative
energy.
This event will be held
under the theme
"Toward an Integrated
Energy Policy: Facing
Challenges and Securing
Commitment." It
will target Ministers
with responsibility for
Energy and Public
Utilities, Permanent
Secretaries, Chief
Technical Officers and
other Senior Energy
Officers in Government
agencies. Energy
officials from
educational and
financial institutions,
donor agencies, other
energy organizations in
the region as well as
Energy Consultants will
be invited to
participate.

Electricity Stakeholders
Conference
CARILEC is organizing
this for the first time
to bring together
Electrical Inspectors,
Contractors,
Electricians, Electrical
Engineers, Consultants
and officials from
National Bureaus of
Standards from Saint
Lucia and across the
region to discuss
ongoing and planned
Legislative and
regulatory reform in
this sector. Modern day
electric utility
operations call for the
introduction of a gamut
of new practices and
procedures. Thus, the
theme for this
conference is "The
Electricity Industry:
Understanding Processes,
raising Standards and
Building Partnerships."
A
major objective of the
conference is to improve
the understanding of the
roles of all
stakeholders in the
electricity supply
progress, thereby
fostering more
cooperative
relationships. It will
also focus on regional
and international
standards, safety
practices, the
electrical inspections
process, the
registration and
licensing of Contractors
and Electricians and the
training and
certifications of
electricity industry
personnel.
It
is anticipated that the
conference will inform
the role of CARILEC in
the reform process.

Chief Executive Officers
Symposium
The symposium will be
held under the theme
" Celebrating the
Past , Consolidating
the Present and
Embracing the
Future."
It
will provide CEO's with
an opportunity to
reflect on the
achievements of CARILEC
over the last fifteen
years, recognize the
efforts of major
contributors and discuss
prospects for the future
growth and development
of the association.

Engineers Conference &
Supply Chain Seminar
This theme for this
Conference is
"Managing Electric
Utilities in an Isolated
System Issues of
Environment, Cost
Compliance and
Competitiveness." It
will be hosted jointly
by the Puerto Rico
Electric Power Authority
(PREPA), EcoElectrica,
and the AES.
The Supply Chain Seminar
was merged with this
conference one year ago
to take advantage of
synergistic for Supply
Chain participants.
Engineering
professionals as well as
reprehensive of
manufacturers, suppliers
of equipment and
materials and other
industry service
providers from the
region, North America
and Europe are expected
to attend. The
Conference is a forum
which facilitates
networking, the exchange
of ideas and the
exposure to new
developments,
technologies and
products both through
technical presentations,
field trips and trade
show.

The IS, Finance &
Customer Service
Managers Conference
This Conference will
address the theme
"Managing Information
Resources for Corporate
Growth." It is
specifically targeted at
senior executives with
responsibility for
finance, customer
services and information
services. The conference
seeks to provide all
stakeholders with the
forum to discuss
concerns, setbacks,
share experiences and
all showcase new
technologies.
A
feature presentation
will be made on
Geographic Information
Systems (GIS) and
participants will be
brought up to date with
the work of the CARILEC
Task Force. There will
also be three (3)
separate special focus
sessions to allow each
group of managers to
address matters of
specific concern to
their work and
professional
development.

Conference
It
is widely accepted that
the key to managing
human resources in these
challenging times is
effective leadership.
Hence this Conference
will explore the theme
"Adding Value through
Visionary Leadership."
It is specifically
targeted at human
resource personnel who
are functioning in a
senior or managerial
capacity in an electric
utility or in an
associate member
company. Additionally,
the conference seeks to
provide stakeholders
with the forum to
discuss human resource
development concerns and
to share experiences on
human resource
management issues.
